One of the world's largest mathematics puzzle championships β now open exclusively to all Aldar Education students across the UAE.
The story behind KenKen
KenKen was created in 2004 by Japanese mathematics teacher Tetsuya Miyamoto, with a simple but powerful belief β that children learn best when they are given the tools to think and the freedom to discover answers themselves.
Built on logic, numbers, and mathematical operators, KenKen is far more than a puzzle. It develops the kind of thinking that stays with a child long after the grid is solved β pattern recognition, structured reasoning, composure under pressure, and the quiet confidence that comes from working through something genuinely difficult.
It is recognised by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), USA, for developing numeracy, logical reasoning, perseverance, and problem-solving in children β skills that show up not just in mathematics, but across every subject and every challenge a child faces.
Unlock Your Child's Potential at Global Stage
The KenKen International Championship (KIC) is one of the world's largest mathematics puzzle championship, where thousands of students across UAE and globally compete every year to become the fastest and most accurate KenKen player in their age group.
This year, KIC comes directly to Aldar Education in an exclusive edition β open only to Aldar Education students aged 7 to 17, with a unique set of benefits crafted exclusively for the Aldar Education students.
Students progress through two exciting rounds within Aldar Education Schools β Intra School and Inter-School β with the top performers from each age category earning a direct spot at the KIC International Round, competing alongside the best young KenKen enthusiasts from across the world. Beyond the competition, KIC builds sportsmanship, concentration, perseverance, and the kind of healthy competitive spirit that prepares a child not just for the next round, but for the real world.

KenKen builds skills that no single subject teaches in isolation. Here is what consistent puzzle-solving and competitive championship experience β genuinely develops in a child.
Builds numeracy and number sense through active, engaging puzzle practice β not rote learning or repetition.
Students learn to think fast without sacrificing precision β a skill that transfers directly to examinations and real-world decisions.
Every puzzle demands structured, methodical thinking from start to finish β building the habit of reasoning before acting.
Children learn to sit with difficulty, reset when needed, and try again β one of the strongest long-term predictors of academic and professional success.
KIC creates a structured, fair competitive environment that builds character, resilience, and a genuine respect for the effort of others.
Recognised by NCTM USA and practised in classrooms across the world β KenKen carries weight well beyond the UAE championship floor.
